AMIDA
(Action For More Independence & Dignity In Accommodation)
Housing
Rights Today
Disability
Act 2006
AMIDA has developed an information session
which outlines the way the new Disability Act 2006
can affect housing.
The presentation concentrates on presenting, in plain
English and simple diagrams, the main points and how they will affect people in
their housing, whether it is in private rental, public housing or group home
situations.
The presentation gives information on what can be
expected, and how to go about asking for improved conditions in your housing.
There is information on where to get further
information and the services available to support your housing choice. AMIDA will also speak
briefly about plans and what and how to use a plan.
Some other topics we will touch on are privacy and
complaints.
Each session takes approximately 1 hour, and uses a
PowerPoint presentation with delivery by a member of AMIDA. The final part of
the session involves a Question & Answer time, where people can make
comments on the session, and enquire about questions they may have. AMIDA will
always try to answer all questions, refer you to where you might find the
answer or agree to
follow up at a later date.
The Question & Answer parts of our sessions always
provide an opportunity for people to seek answers for their questions and share
their experiences.
